Émigré Services PDF Print E-mail

At Jewish Family Service, we are dedicated to assisting individuals and families legally admitted into the United States, settle locally and integrate into the community.

In the 1990s, the Salt Lake Jewish Community resettled approximately 500 refugees from the former Soviet Union and Iran. Two hundred of these refugees are now over the age of 50.

Our Émigré Services include assistance with:

  • Needs assessment
  • Case management
  • Medical care coordination
  • Transportation
  • Job placemen
  • Acculturation through our Russian Club and the L'Chaim Choir
  • Information and Referral
  • English as a Second Language classes for seniors
  • Citizenship classes for seniors
  • Interpretation services (English-Russian and Russian-English)
  • Volunteer services in collaboration with Salt Lake County Aging Services
