Walking the Red Butte Garden paths Friday, however, may have seemed like a fresh activity this April day, and that’s understandable to his wife of 65 years, Joan, a PhD and faculty member from the U as well. Admiring the bright yellow daffodils with them is Rosemary Quatrale, Older Adult Care Manager at JFS, who organizes the Dementia-Friendly Activity the Wolf’s are enjoying.

Dear Friends, With great gratitude for her years of dedication and commitment, the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Service announces the pending retirement of Ellen Silver, our beloved Executive Director and friend.  Ellen will step down in the fall of 2023 after 19 years of service, allowing time for the JFS staff to prepare for her departure and the Board to carefully plan for her successor.  To say that Ellen will be missed does not do justice to the impact she’s had on the organization.
JFS mental health counselors Roxana Cordova, LCSW, and Margarita Arteaga Alcantara, ACMHC, both bilingual, native Spanish speakers, together with Valentina Pastrana, Counseling Intern, at the Christian Center of Park City (CCPC), have started a Spanish Clinical Consultation Group. The impetus behind forming the group was to provide a space where counselors can talk about the unique experiences of the Spanish-speaking community and discuss specific culturally competent interventions to utilize-- especially as clients in Salt Lake and Park City are becoming more linguistically and culturally diverse.

Since its humble beginnings in 2012 as a source of food for 85 clients, the pantry has grown immensely in size and scope.
As part of the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend, Jewish Family Service is thrilled to receive a $10,000 grant from the NBPA National Basketball Players Association Foundation via Park City Community Foundation Mental Wellness Alliance. KSL TV's Ayanna Likens covered this story. You can watch it here.

Hal J. Pos passed away peacefully on December 3, 2022, after fighting appendix cancer with fierce bravery, courage, perseverance, and strength. He was 63.
