Chai Society

Jewish Family Service's Chai Society consists of donors committed to sustaining JFS's mission of Tikkun Olam ("Repairing the World" in Hebrew) - through a minimum annual gift of $1800.  This commitment allows those who cannot afford or easily access services to receive urgently needed help.  Call us at 801.746.4334 or email Ellen Silver at for further information.

Corporate Matching

Ask your employer if they have a matching gift program - an easy way to double your donation to JFS!

Planned Giving/Bequests

Make your values known. A planned gift or endowment helps ensure clients have strong, responsive programs and services for generations to come. JFS is a founding member organization of the Utah Community Legacy Project, an effort to secure a vibrant future for our community. To learn more about becoming a legacy donor, please email David Dowsett at or contact him at 801-448-2248.

Gifts of Stock

By giving stock, you can avoid paying tax on long-term appreciation of the securities and receive a deduction for the full market value of this charitable donation.  Contact JFS at 801.746.4334 for transfer instructions.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)

Qualified donors may transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA to eligible public charities each year.  The QCD is excluded from taxable income.  It avoids taxes on IRA distributions and can count toward required minimum distributions.  For 2020, the required minimum distribution is waived as a result of the CARES Act.  However, you may still choose to use a QCD option to support your community.   Contact your IRA administrator for information on how to make a QCD to JFS.

Naming Opportunities

Honor a loved one by naming a special part of a JFS office.  Your generous gift will make a lasting impression on JFS and help secure our future.  Numerous opportunities remain to name spaces in both our Salt Lake City and Park City offices.  Please email Ellen Silver at or call her at 801.746.4334 for more details.

Food Donations

Give the gift of food! We provide food assistance through our on-site food pantry to individuals and families who are facing financial crises. The number of people utilizing food pantries is growing due to record unemployment, rising food prices and cuts to government assistance. Food bank visits are increasingly made by folks who have not previously needed any social service programs.  Please call 801.746.4334 for more information on ways to donate.
